Account Deletion
This page explains how to delete your Ledgerly account, what happens during the deletion process, and what to do if you cannot sign in.
Delete your account in the app
Follow these steps:
- Open Ledgerly and sign in.
- Go to Settings.
- Choose Delete Account.
- Re-enter your password to confirm.
- Your deletion request is now scheduled.
You must re-enter your password. We do this so that only you can start the deletion of your own data.
Grace period
After you confirm, there is a 30-day grace period. During this time your account still works. You can sign in and cancel the deletion if you change your mind.
What gets deleted
After the 30-day grace period we:
- Delete all of your financial details (accounts, categories, transactions, budgets).
- Anonymize your account row by replacing your email with a non-deliverable address and replacing your password hash with an unusable value.
What we keep
We keep one audit record only. It contains:
- Your account id.
- Two timestamps (deletion requested and deletion completed).
- A count of deleted rows by type.
The audit record contains no financial details.
Cancel a deletion
To cancel, sign in to Ledgerly during the 30-day grace period and choose to cancel the deletion in Settings.
If you cannot sign in
If you cannot sign in and still want your account deleted, you can request deletion through our web channel. Send a request from the email address on your account to [TODO: web deletion request email] with the subject "Account deletion request." We will verify ownership before proceeding. The same 30-day grace period applies.
